Position Summary:

The Support Worker ensures the smooth overnight operation of the Stay the Night Shelter, supporting women experiencing homelessness in a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Register new/returning clients, assign beds and lockers.

• Enforce shelter rules, curfew, and safety protocols.

• Maintain cleanliness of sleeping hall, dining, washrooms, and kitchen.

• Serve meals, manage food storage, and report shortages.

• Monitor sleeping areas and assist in emergencies.

• Document incidents, attendance, and inventory.

• Respond to client queries in-person and over the phone.

Qualifications:

• Experience in shelters or community services preferred.

• Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.

• Ability to work independently overnight.

• Must pass Vulnerable Sector Police Check.

• First Aid/CPR or crisis training is an asset.
